Your day at NTT DATA

The Cloud Software Licensing Analyst role is to support the Cloud Software Asset Manager (C-SAM) by ensuring ongoing license reporting and compliance for monthly consumptive-based cloud license that support customer workloads. This role supports communication between the business and cloud license providers to deliver software and applications according to required licensing terms and reports monthly usage to ensure licensing compliance.

What you'll be doing

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collect and maintain accurate software licensing information in repositories for ongoing monthly usage.

  • Create monthly software usage reports for review/approval by C-SAM to submit to contracted organizations (Microsoft, VMware, Linux etc.)

  • Working with various Service Owner to ensure timely monthly data gathering for ongoing monthly license reporting.

  • Provide support during software publisher audits.

  • Provide information on incremental license changes and monthly totals for consumption due to change and pinpointing any potential cost mitigation opportunities.

  • Track and ensure notice periods are met for changes, cancellations, and monthly reporting.

  • Respond to requests from business owners, end-users, managers, developers, and team members for specific Cloud Software Asset Management information.

  • Become informed of new and updated software license models and options for key manufacturer products to provide information to business owners for ongoing licensing changes.

  • Contributes to the development and enforcement of software license management policies and procedures.

  • Understands Software Asset Management and Software Licensing policies and standards to ensure legal, security, contractual, and regulatory compliance and advise accordingly for service offer development.

  • Provides support to the license renewals team and undertake a quality review of renewal request proposals prior to being issued to the relevant stakeholders.

  • Supports projects and provide expertise for the Licensing aspects of service transitions.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • Organized, self-started that requires minimal direct supervision once trained.

  • The ability to multi-task and meet monthly reporting deadlines.

  • Ability to learn and become familiar with diverse cloud service provider programs specific to cloud licensing use.

  • Ability to interact within a culturally diverse and globally dispersed organization including cross functional resources interacting with differently levels of leadership across the organization.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational habits with the ability to multi-task are a must

  • Knowledge of different licensing models – Perpetual, Right To Use, End-User, Subscription, Enterprise Agreements, etc.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet all given reporting deadlines

  • Engineering industry background in IT service provision

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering or related

  • IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation qualification

Required Experience:

  • Seasoned analytic skills

  • O365 and office productivity tools such as Outlook and Excel

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills a plus

  • PowerBI Analytics skills preferred.

  • Experience working as a software asset specialist/analyst, a software asset configuration specialist/manager, IT asset manager, or a licensing manager

  • Understanding of general licensing contracts and ability to evaluate licensing contracts preferred

  • Understanding of budgeting and forecasting methodology

  • Knowledge of working with vendors/suppliers
