Your day at NTT DATA

The Associate Procurement / Purchasing Analyst is an entry level role, responsible for assisting with the analysis of market outlooks and determining when and what to buy when contracting with vendors, ordering supplies, or making a big investment in a product, technology, etc.

This role assists with the development and implementation of short-term strategies to procure / purchase commodities across all categories.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the liaison between the business and vendors.

  • Assists with the review and processing of requisitions to ensure timely order submission.

  • Assists with analyzing documented comparative costs submitted by suppliers in the RFP process.

  • Assists with agreeing pricing and performance standards through contracts with suppliers.

  • Inspects and tests samples of products and services of vendors and documenting features and benefits of each product, using this information to make the final purchasing decision.

  • Documents the costs for all assigned vendors, as well as generating monthly cost reports to present to stakeholders.

  • Assists with the administration of trends and market conditions and maintains efficient flow of information for all materials.

  • Assists with the preparation of inputs on the design of various cost savings programs and support with identifying new suppliers.

  • Monitors order fulfilment against purchase orders to ensure on-time deliveries.

  • Performs any other relevant tasks as requested by management.

Knowledge and Attributes:

  • Cost-benefit analysis process understanding.

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with suppliers/vendors.

  • Knowledge of the relevant quality standards related to products and services.

  • Organizational skills.

  • Ability to remain calm under stress and operate in a high-pressure environment.

  • Team player.

  • Good communication skills, especially related to facilitation, documentation and reporting.

  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel/Word/PowerPoint).

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study

  • Relevant certifications, e.g., CSCP, CPIM

Required Experience:

  • Entry level experience working in the field and related procurement / purchasing operational experience.

  • Entry level experience conducting cost-benefit analysis.

  • Entry level experience in using procurement modules for managing purchase orders, supplier information, and contract management.

  • Entry level experience in evaluating the vendors that work with a company based on the vendors price, quality, and availability.

Knowledge and application:

  • Work is reviewed periodically based on a set of defined procedures or precedence.

  • Normally receives general instruction on work and new assignments.

  • Learns to use professional concepts.

Problem solving:

  • Applies knowledge and basic problem-solving techniques to define and resolve problems.

  • Works on problems of limited scope.

Interaction:

  • Exchanges standard/basic information with colleagues and immediate line manager/team leader.

  • Develops stable working relationships internally.

Accountability:

  • Determines a course of action based on guidelines and standard practices and procedures.
